The children can choose to perform a humorous, duet, or serious speech.

There are a total of four scheduled speech meets throughout the school year. Each meet is scheduled on a Saturday. The schedule is made and communicated near the beginning of each school year.

The team requires commitment and parental permission from each student. Each team member is required to attend one of the first three meets. Absences are only excused for illness or family emergency.

Students are welcome to join the team if they are willing to make a commitment for the entire school year and if their grades are in good standing.

An adult coach is assigned to each student to help him or her prepare for the meet. Each team member will schedule meeting times with his or her coach.

The moderator will choose a team to represent the school at the final meet.

All Christ the King parish and school children are welcome to join. The children's choirs do not require auditions.

The two grade school choirs rotate singing with a high school choir for each 5:00 p.m. Saturday mass. By doing so, your child will perform every third Saturday. The group occasionally sings at a weekday 8:00 a.m. mass for the school children. Their voices have also been requested for performances at various special school and parish events.

The choir for grades 3 through 5 practice on Tuesday nights at the Ryan Center after school.

The choir for grades 6 through 8 practice on Thursday nights at the Ryan Center after school.

The CKS drama club is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Meetings are Thursdays from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Explore theatre through games, improv, scene work, and monologues. There are opportunities to write and get involved backstage. The idea is to have fun as you create!

We welcome parents who would like to help out with play productions. We need volunteers to assist with set designs, props, program designs and other areas. Call the school office if you'd like to help.

The game assists in developing an understanding of number concepts, number systems, factors and primes, order of operations, and simple algebraic equations.

The "Equations" club provides children at Christ the King with an opportunity to learn in a challenging and enjoyable environment, to experience the joy of friendly competition, and to test their math skills in a creative game.

The players do not need to be math whiz kids to play; the game requires many skills beyond those in math.

"Equations" players in each grade will gather weekly to play the game. One or more of the children's parents will coach each grade level.

"Equations" teams will be formed. An optional competition is held in early March at which teams from Christ the King can compete against other St. Louis Area teams.

Faculty sponsors and students jointly publish a bi-monthly newsletter. The newsletter contains information about what's happening at the school along with special articles and interviews written by the students.

The children participate in action-oriented programs that fulfill the goals of scouting. The council's four area camps offer the scouts more than 8,000 acres of wilderness for a wide variety of outdoor programs including camping, hiking, swimming, boating, rappelling, rock climbing, ropes courses, and horseback riding.

Our programs are conducted under the guidance of the Greater St. Louis Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and the Archdiocese Catholic Committee for Scouting.

We offer Cub Scouts for boys ages 6 to 10, Boy Scouts for boys ages 11 to 18, and Venture Scouts for children (boys and girls) ages 14 through 20.

Boy Scout Troop 591:
Our Boy Scout program begins after our Cub Scouts transition to our Troop in the Fifth Grade. We offer a continuous, adventure-filled program that includes camping,rock climbing, rapelling, horseback riding, leadership, advancement, backpacking, canoeing and friendships.
 
Venturing Crew 9591:
Our Venturing program begins as our Scouts complete the Eighth Grade and continues through High School and College. This program includes young women as registered members. Our outdoor activities continue and we add SCUBA diving, white-water rafting and exciting trips fun locations. Our Crew has taken two trips to Grand Cayman Island for SCUBA diving and we are planning a Philmont Trek.

All program activities are age-appropriate and based on four program goals; developing self-potential, relating to others, developing values, and contributing to society, as well as on the Girl Scout promise and law.

The scouts at Christ the King participate in activities ranging from earning badges and selling cookies to assisting the elderly of our parish. The group completes service projects in the community, goes camping, and has a lot of fun.

• Cadette Scouts in grades 7 and 8

Girl Scouting has a rich tradition at Christ the King school. There are several adult volunteers who were girl scouts when they attended the school.

Each troop's meeting schedule is unique. Some meet after school and some later in the evening. Some meet at school and others at their leader's homes. The frequency ranges from every other week to monthly.

The Christ The King Athletic Association is responsible for administering the sports programs for the children of Christ The King School and parish.

Enrollment forms are sent home from school with the children when registration is required for each sport. You will fill out the form and return it to school with your child.

The purpose of the Christ the King student council is to serve as a democratic method for all school citizens to have "a say" in the operation of the school. The school principal uses the student council to keep the students, the principal, and the teachers informed of each other's ideas, needs, and opinions.

The student council makes sure that everyone in the school cooperates in the day-to-day responsibilities of being part of a school community. They enjoy making improvements, special activities, and working together on specific problems.

Elections are held each fall for the each of the following positions:

• Vice president
• Secretary
• Treasurer
• Editor-in-Chief for the student newspaper: "Christ the King Chronicle"
• Two representatives for each class in grades 4 through 8
